This detail page shows several photos of the book to show what a first edition looks like.  The images are original photos taken of my personal copy of the first edition book. 

The Golden Spiders (1953):

• The dustjacket has some unique features:
• The front flap has the price ($2.50) at the top and "The Viking Press New York" at the bottom. 
• The back flap is half empty on the book club edition. 
• The first edition is light gray cloth with black vertical squiggly lines on the cover and a light green spine and gold lettering.
• The title page has 1953 on it.
• The copyright page has the Library of Congress catalog number and "Printed in the USA by Colonial Press Inc" on it. 
• The book cover is completely different, as you can see below.

• The first edition measures .75" x 5.6" x 8.3"
• The book club edition measures .85" x 5.7" x 8.55"
