This detail page shows several photos of the book to show what a first edition looks like. The images are original photos taken of my personal copy of the first edition book.
Death of a Dude (1969):
- The dustjacket has some unique features:
- The front flap has price ($4.50) at top and "Jacket Design by S.A. Summit" in red at the bottom and also "0869".
- The back flap has four lines about Viking Press about the "Printed in USA".
- The back cover has "The Viking Press Publisherss" in red and "SBN 670-26140-8", while the book club edition is blank.
- The copyright page has the Library of Congress catalog number and "Printed in USA by Colonial Press Inc."
- The first edition book cover is medium blue with a black spine with the title in green, author in light blue and Viking in white, completely different, as you can see below, with thwe book club edition being black.

- The first edition measures .85" x 5.6" x 8.25"
- The book club edition measures .8" x 5.7" x 8.55"
