This detail page shows several photos of the book to show what a first edition looks like.  The images are original photos taken of my personal copy of the first edition book. 

Black Orchids- Collins (1943):

• This is the Collins Crime Club UK first edition
• The back of the dustjacket has a picture of Rex Stout on it.
• The front flap has the price at the bottom (7s 6d net)
• The back flap lists the titles in blue rather than black.
• The cover is red cloth with black lettering
• The copyright page has no further printings noted and the year is printed on the bottom line of the page
• The first edition is thicker than the later edition
• The comparison slide provided shows the difference between a first edition and a later printing.
